For participating communities, regions, emergency agencies, etc. EMCOM
makes available a WebCast streaming live audio channel known as LiveAlert for the Emergency Operations Centers in each locality to
issue LIVE warnings, instructions, etc. to their affected citizens. To access
this broadcast, you may use one of the two methodologies below.
- Direct Web Access: If your web browser supports direct access to streaming
audio webcasts (i.e. launches the applicable MP3 capable device on your
computer, you need do nothing. If your participating Emergency Operations
Center should broadcast while you are on (the previous) page, the system
will launch your MP3 player and you will hear the broadcast.
- Alternate Access: The webcast can be directly accessed through most
MP3 streaming audio capable applications, such as Windows Media Player and
WinAmp for Microsoft systems, and XMMS for unix/linux systems. To access the
webcast, launch the application on your computer, and direct it (see the HELP
for the application you use), to the internet address listed on the page
when the system is active.
If you do not have a streaming media player on your computer (you must also
have an audio card and speakers), you can download one for free by clicking
the button below. Follow the simple instructions for installation.
When active, live EMCOM LiveAlert WebCast broadcasts from your community's Emergency
Operations Center are normally scheduled at 15 minute intervals, at :00 :15
:30 :45 minutes past the hour, but may be a continuous broadcast should the
local Emergency Operations personnel wish to do so. See your locality's EMCOM Emergency Information Page during any emergency situation for postings indicating an updated
broadcast schedule.
