    IMPORTANT NOTICE

    Thanks, BC-PEP

Please download the HELP-OK sign (pdf file) by clicking HERE.

The file contains two full page signs:
    • One sign in red with white lettering "HELP"
    • One sign in green with white lettering "OK"
Either reference your neighbors here, or print and make copies of each sign for them. (If you have heavy enough paper, you can print them 'back to back'.) Immediately after an emergency, have them place the applicable sign in a prominant place (window), that can be easily seen from outside. This will aid emergency/rescue personnel entering the area in quickly assessing where help is and is not required, and can allocate resources without having to physically check each residence/business. This is a very simple, yet very effective system. Please try to insure that your neighbors have the signs, and keep them where they can be easily accessed in an emergency.

Thanks, and a tip of the hat for both the idea, and the sign file to Mervin Harrower, Director of Provincial Emergency Preparedness, British Colombia, CANADA, and his entire dedicated staff. We also recommend everyone to visit their site whether you live in Canada or not, for the great information there. The site is <http://www.pep.bc.ca>

NOTE: If you or your organization has a web site, and you need a way to share other websites that contain emergency information, etc. during phone conference (or just web tours of such web sites), the utilities below may be useful. (We use them to demonstrate various aspects of the EMCOM system.

You might use them to direct neighbors, community, etc. to web pages with critical emergency information/new required during an emergency (i.e. Emergency Victim Locator, etc.), or create a 'tour' of emergency related websites in your community, and leave the tour looping so that visitors can join the tour at any time.
To add the utility to your own web page you need only paste a few lines into the page html code. Click on the "Get Your Own WebCruiser" button for more information.

Skype(tm) allows you to voice conference from your computer. For emergency agencies and/or EMCOM Community Coordinators to have voice communications with each other for coordination, etc. (You can use it anytime to talk to family, friends, neighbors, etc., and even use it to call their telephones. Like CastHopper, it is FREE.
